Cupcake Road Trip '11 - Day 2: Beautiful Leaf

Top left clockwise: Pink champagne, creme brulee, chocolate, and red velvet!
Day two began and as we left California and traveled across Arizona we stopped at our second cupcakery: Beautiful Leaf in Flagstaff. Again, we opted for four cupcakes in order to get a good variety.

Pardon the dark picture.... not sure what was up with this.
Chocolate - the cake was not as moist as I would like and was very crumbly.  The frosting was a good match in texture, but the flavors were only moderate. Nothing really stood out.

Look at that glorious sugar!!

Creme Brulee - It had a great toasty sugar flavor that I loved.  The cake was a little more moist than the chocolate but not by much.  Mom said the frosting was almost too creamy for her though.

Pink Champagne - there wasn't a lot of flavor to this one, but that may be because champagne is on it's own a very mild flavor.

Red Velvet - this cake was a big disappointment.  There was not much red velvet flavor at all.  The frosting was the best part of this one.

Over all, the cakes all remained fairly dry and for me the Creme Brulee was the star today. That being said, the Salty Caramel was still our go-to amazing flavor of the trip so far, but that would all change on day 3. :-D
